Baby Update: Week 34!

Time is flying by! 34 weeks already? Peanut will be here before we know it!

This week, baby is about the size of a pineapple. Weighing in at around 5 pounds and is anywhere between 18-20 inches long!

That size explains why she is making my tummy more and more tight…poor thing is running out of room!

Also explains why she thinks stretching out is a good idea, someone must be cramped (please note, it hurts when she does that).

Pregnancy Symptoms: Well, first things first. I have felt my energy drastically decrease the past two weeks. I am sure the lack of sleep and the working two jobs isn’t helping that problem. But dang, I just feel worn out constantly.

IMG_3890I also have acquired a fun pregnancy symptom…swollen feet. Now, after being up on my feet most of the day my feet swell. Now, funniest part is my right foot swells more than my left, which makes me have one kankle.

I now know the struggle Kim Kardashian faced while pregnant with her first little one….kankles are the new sexy, duh!

I also have been having some random, slight cramping…So, I will be getting fully looked at (if you know what I mean) when I go in for my Doctor’s appointment on Thursday! Excited and nervous to see just how things ‘down there’ are going.

Baby Prep: I have officially packed all things baby will need for when we have to go to the hospital! Now, just to get a hospital bag packed for myself and daddy. I plan on doing that this week…since we never really know when she will make her arrival into this world, better to be prepared.

IMG_3888Baby’s Birthday: Last week, I made a poster board that looked like a calendar and allowed my students to make a prediction on when they thought Baby Hill would be born. The kids are having fun with getting a bit involved in baby things, especially when a prize is involved for those who guessed the correct date.

I put my guess in as well…I guessed October 15th as baby’s birthday.

Other Thoughts: The other night, while laying in bed talking with my husband, I came to the (scary and exciting) realization that we could have a tiny baby in 2-3 weeks. I knew time was sneaking up on me…but this truly made me have a reality check. However, although that realization slightly freaked me out and gave me some anxiety, I believe I am ready to welcome my little girl into the world and finally hold her in my arms.

34 weeks down, 6 weeks to go!

Baby Update: 27 Weeks!

WOW! We are now well into month 6 of this pregnancy and wishing time would speed up/slow down at the same time!

Baby Hill is now the size of a cucumber. Measuring in around 15 inches long and weighing around 2.2 pounds.

As you would expect, growing baby also means growing belly. Baby likes to kick around and squirm regularly now. She really is having a party in there. Along with baby movements does come so discomfort, but she is worth every kick to the side and back ache.

Food: By now all the food cravings and aversions are the same as they have always been. Nothing new here. Baby has quite the sweet tooth!

Emotions: This deserves its own little subtitle this post because HOLY COW I have been soooo much more sensitive the last week or two than I have my entire pregnancy. Little things that normally would not bother me have caused me to burst into tears.

(For example, in Target with my hubby the other week and I cried because the bump was making finding a dress a struggle. If you want to read the whole experience it’s up on the mum blog, just click here!)

I have been really lucky on the emotional side of pregnancy hormone changes, but the last couple weeks has truly been a tearful one. Hoping this part does not last long…for me and my husband’s sake. 😉

Doctor Updates: Had my glucose test the other day. People are not joking about how gross the stuff you drink is. BLEH! Still waiting to hear about my results. *fingers crossed*

Update: got a call this morning, passed my glucose test! Yay! However, am needing to take an iron supplement because I am anemic. At least that’s an easy fix to help baby and myself stay healthy!

The doctor also measured my belly for the first time this appointment! I was pretty flattered. Means my belly has grown enough to measure! Woot! I have gained about 17 pounds so far in this pregnancy, and most of that is belly and breast weight (thankfully).

Fun Facts: We had an awesome baby shower the other weekend that my sister through for me. It was great! So many wonderful friends and family came to celebrate Peanut…and were amazing enough to give us some baby essentials to help us when she arrives.

The cutest activity my sister did was the onesie painting. It was adorable. Baby Hill will have tons of fun, decorated clothes to wear from newborn until 24 months!

Another exciting thing happened just the other day. I traded in my 2011 Ford Fiesta (stick shift) for an automatic 2012 Nissan Rogue. I am now officially feeling a bit more maternal with a cute SUV that can fit baby things better than my little pink hatchback would have.

I may have shed a tear or two once the trade was finalized due to the exciting new chapter in my life that is becoming more and more real everyday.

The next couple weeks will be crazy ones. High school diving season starts back up tomorrow and pre-school trainings start-up Tuesday. So long summer, hello busy fall schedule.

27 weeks down, 13 more to go!

Baby Update: 25 weeks! (& it’s my birthday!)

That is right, I am officially 26-years-old and Peanut is 25 weeks along in the womb!

This week my little lady is the size of a Rutabaga. Kind of a strange comparison… Anyways, this means baby is around 9 inches long and weighing around 1.7 pounds.

Not much new has happened in the past couple of weeks. Baby still kicks and moves A LOT! I can even see some of her movements now, which is a bit creepy, but awesome! She seems to kick most whenever mummy eats spicy foods or drinks sweet tea.

She also loves when I sing to her. Normally, I stick with Disney songs since they sound nice. Although, no matter the tune I am singing too, someone starts to move around and dance.

Already loving Disney and she is not even here yet…Daddy may be in trouble! 😉

She is growing bigger and bigger and so is my belly. Jeans officially do not button or zip anymore. Thank goodness for the belly band I bought at Target. I can still wear my jeans…and the belly band keeps my pants up all while looking like another layer to my outfit. Whoever created the belly band deserves a high-five from yours truly. 🙂

Since it is my birthday weekend I am going to change-up my post a little bit. I am going to list 8 (26: 2+6=8…my brain) things I am thankful for/am wishing for as I turn another year older and my little baby gets another day closer to her arrival.

#1: I am thankful for a loving husband who is going to make an amazing father to our little peanut. He has been working extraordinarily hard the last couple months to change jobs so we can be a bit more stable when Peanut arrives. I am so proud to call him my hubby.

#2: Along the same line, I am happy to have had a pretty easy pregnancy and a healthy baby so far! My little girl is looking great and developing properly. I pray the last couple months she stays healthy and grows big and strong for her arrival into this world. I love her so much already…and I haven’t even officially met her. Parenthood is magical, isn’t it?

#3: I am thankful for all the awesome support I have had throughout my pregnancy. Those who have given us a crib, a breast pump, clothing, advice, etc. A huge thank you to you all. 🙂

#4: I wish and hope I can be as good and loving of a mom to my little girl as my mom was to me. She is one of the strongest women I know and will do anything for her kids. II am so thankful to have her around and know she will be a great Gami to my little Peanut.

#5: I am wishing to have an easy, stress-free school year this year. I am hoping for my students to stay darlings and not become too horrible as the year progresses.

#6: On that same note, I am wishing/praying I find an amazing long-term sub to take over for me second quarter this year once Peanut is born.

#7:I am thankful that on this birthday I am able to spend time with my brother and his two babies as they are down visiting for a few days! I have never met my nephew, so I am excited to get to know him and of course catch up with my niece and brother.

#8: Last, but not least, I am thankful for all my family and friends who have supported me and been there for me, and have shows support for Michael and Baby Hill as well. Thank you to those who read and follow my blog. To everyonen in my life, you are amazing and I could not be more blessed. And again, Thank you! 🙂

25 weeks down, 15 weeks to go!

Baby Update: 23 weeks!

Holy moly! This time is going by faster than expected…

Our little Peanut is now the size of a Papaya! So she is about 8inches long and weighs around 1.2 pounds!

As you can see, I have {finally} started to show constantly now (yippie!) and my belly will only continue to get bigger over the next few months!

Gender: As you might have read in last week’s post, Baby Hill is a little girl. Have I already started buying cute little baby clothes for her arrival? Yes, yes I have.

As for her name, you will have to wait a little longer to find that out. But don’t worry, it is adorable and will suit the peanut perfectly! ❤

Food Cravings: Over the last few weeks I have developed much more of a sweet tooth. Anything chocolate is obviously going to be eaten.

I also have been enjoying bagels with strawberry cream cheese. So tasty.

Aversions: Luckily, this has not been much of a problem, although I do find myself getting grossed out by smells much more than usual. Doesn’t make me sick, just makes me go “bleh”.

Fun Facts: I have officially hit the point in my pregnancy where my back is aching enough or I am having to pee often enough that it hinders my sleep, and sometimes breathing is harder when laying down, but other than that things are going great! Perhaps baby is just preparing me for her big arrival.

IMG_3164Baby’s ultrasound went really. Baby looks healthy and is growing properly. It was amazing seeing all her little bones and movements. Her little hands were up by her face and she kept showing us her impressive yawning skills.

The photo to the left is the creepy, yet funny ultrasound picture we got that makes her look like an alien, but if you look, you can see her little open mouth and her eyes on the left hand side of the picture.

Creepy…but still cute.

Daddy got to feel the little one kick for the first time last week! I think she can tell the difference in her daddy’s big hands on my belly versus mine. Once she felt his hand and did a few kicks to show him she loves him. He has been able to feel her kicks a couple times now, it’s one of my favourite things.

She also thought it was funny to do a big kick when our dog was laying his head on my belly. He just looked at me, then at my belly like, “the heck was that?!” (Not even born yet and she has a sense of humour).

I did have some fun letting my summer school students know which sex the baby was. I brought it cupcakes that were pink. They were excited to know the sex AND of course, eat a yummy red velvet cupcake. 🙂

Can’t believe summer is flying by so quickly! Before we know it Peanut will be here!

23 weeks down, 17 weeks to go!

Baby Update: It’s a….!!!

IMG_3144So, excitingly enough I was able to push my ultrasound foward, making it possible to find out Baby Hill’s gender a week earlier than planned. My impatient side got the best of me.

(Also, since this post is happening at the same time as my normal biweekly baby post, I will pick that up again at 23 weeks.)

However, before I get to the exciting news of what gender Peanut is, I figured it would be fun to share some old wives tales that I did to “predict” baby’s gender prior to the appointment.

  • Morning sickness/nausea – I had terrible nausea throughout the entire first trimester of my pregnancy. This wives tales indicates: GIRL
  • Chinese Gender Calendar – This one is easy, you just took up your month of conception (February) and match it with your age when it happened (25). Results: BOY
  • Mayan Gender Calendar – This is similar to the one above, however it has to do with odds and evens. You look at the age in which you got preganant and the year. If both are odd numbers or even numbers it’s a girl, for one of each it’s a boy. Results: GIRL
  • Cravings – I really have not had too bad of cravings, but the things I have craved most have been meat and milk. This wives tale indicates: BOY
  • Complection/Nails – Supposedly if those two things worsen, it means the baby is sucking the beauty out of you (girl), if they improve (boy). For me, my skin broke out more on my face than normal and my nails have gotten extremely weak. Results: GIRL
  • Heart rate – My baby’s heart rate has always been above 140. This wives tale indicates: GIRL2015-07-02 20.28.18
  • Ring test – You put your wedding ring on a peice of string or one of your hairs, dangle it above your belly and see how it moves. Mine moved in a circle, which means: GIRL
  • Baking Soda Test – Now, this one may seem gross, but you put 2 TBS of baking soda in a clear glass, and pour some of your urine on it. It will either bubble (boy) or do nothing (girl). Mine resulted is no chemical reaction, which means: GIRL
  • I also (of course) took the #TeamPink or #TeamBlue vote to social media and asked people to voice their opinions…the results:   33% said BOY, 67% said GIRL!
  • And for the record, Daddy thinks BOY! Mummy thinks GIRL!

So, based on old wives tales and silly tests…I should most likely be having a girl. But what is the baby’s actual gender, you may ask?

Well, this appointment was not as easy as one would hope. The little one was kept moving around and had its little legs crossed tight, so seeing its gender was a challenge.

After our tech lady made her original, but unsure guess, we decided to have me move around a bit and she tried to push the little one to move.

Finally, we got a quick glimpse that seemed to make it a bit more certain. 2015-07-02 20.26.16

Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like Baby Hill is a little girl ❤
(not 100% sure, but it’s good enough for me)

Both my husband and I were extremely excited to find out the news, but more importantly, we were excited to see just how healthy our little Peanut is. It is amazing how something so tiny can grow into a little human. I am so thankful that everything has gone well in my pregnancy thus far, and hope for that the rest of the way as well.

22 weeks down, 18 weeks to go.

Baby Update: The halfway mark!

Those of you confused by the headline of this post…it is correct! We are officially half way through cooking up this tiny baby! Amazing and scary how fast time goes, isn’t it?

Baby Hill is measuring in at about the size of a MANGO! So about 6.5 inches long and weighing around 10 ounces!

I am excited to say that this week the bump has made a slight appearance and it is becoming noticeable now! YAY!

My husband laughs and tells me I am probably the only woman who is excited about gaining weight and having clothing feel tighter…he is probably right. 😉

Gender: My little brother, who will be known as “Uncle Sam” to the peanut, thinks SHE is a little GIRL! We will see soon enough if he is correct!

Still have 19 more days to wait till be find out what anatomy Peanut has! (Yes, I am counting the days). I do seem to be more drawn to pink, cutesy clothes than anything else…so maybe that is a sign. Or, perhaps I am biased 😉

Food Aversions: Still not much on the aversion aspect. Which, I must say, I am extremely thankful for!

Food Cravings: Now, this is an interesting recent. Up until the past few days, I have really loved milk and savory foods (which according to old wives tales means BOY). However, I have recently had quite the sweet tooth and REALLY, really wanted chocolate. Thankfully, yummy, chocolate flavoured Greek yogurt has sufficed with this craving.

Oh, and I may have eaten three of my Mom’s scumptious, freshly made flour-less chocolate cupcakes (with cream cheese frosting) for breakfast this morning. Don’t judge.

Fun Things: As I mentioned last post, I was able to feel some fluttering. Well, those flutters have become more and more regular. I am hoping baby gets big enough soon so that Michael will be able to feel our little Peanut flipping around and stretching out inside my tummy!

Most of the movement happens in the evenings and at night, which is quite fun. Especially when attempting to go to sleep. Although I feel like I have some strange thing inside of me when it’s moving around like that, it reassures me in knowing baby is okay and enjoying its womb time.

This week was the start of summer school! Bring on my new summer schedule! Although unhappy to be at school over the summer, my kiddos are excited that I am finally starting to show a slight bump and love asking me about the baby! It is cute how much they genuinely care. 🙂

230-3196021872-OAlso, shout outs to everyone who is giving my husband and I baby things they no longer use! It is a real help with how expensive baby product are! We truly are blessed and thankful to have such amazing people in our lives.

Also, HAPPY FIRST (sort of) FATHER’S DAY to the love of my life and daddy to Peanut! Can’t believe we are zooming through this new adventure together! I know you will be the best daddy to our little one. Love you! ❤

Baby Update: 14 Weeks!

This week marks the 14 weeks of my first pregnancy.

Baby Hill is the size of a LEMON and growing faster than I can even imagine.

This Week: Well, this has been a rough week in my book. Nausea may be gone but Baby H is sucking all the health out of my system, causing me to catch any cold or germ than comes my way. Isn’t that lucky?

This week I had to leave work early to go to a walk-in clinic for breathing troubles. Come to find out it was the beginnings of bronchitis…always fun. A full week of antibiotics and many inhaler puffs later, I am finally breathing with ease and feeling myself again.

Hoping I can amp up my immune system again so I can avoid getting sick. We will see…perhaps I just need to have a talking with Peanut and it will let up on sucking out mommy’s goodness and health.

I was told by my doctor that pregnancy can amp up your sinus trouble as well as killing your immune system…I can feel this all through my head and my face. Is this normal? It sucks.

Next week I have a blood test to see how my cholesterol is…should be interesting with the amount of meat I have added to my diet since becoming pregnant.

I will also be booking my appointment to find out if Baby Hill is a boy or a girl! (AHHH I AM SO EXCITED!)

New Aversions: Well, brushing my teeth makes me gag…and sometimes makes me sick. That is weird and unusual (haha). Sadly, mac&cheese also does not sit well…which is a shame, because it sure is tasty! Get it together in there Peanut!

Cravings: Still no cravings…still waiting for that to happen.

Apart from the normal fatigue of working two jobs and being pregnant, life has been good this week. Also, slowly developing a baby bump is exciting…even if at the moment it looks like tummy weight gain. 😉

14 weeks down, 26 weeks to go!

Baby Hill Update: 13 Weeks

So, as of today I am 13 weeks into my first pregnancy, which has been a learning process and continues to throw surprises at me.

This week, my darling little one is the size of a PEACH, almost 3 inches! Baby is growing fast week to week…kind of makes me stand in awe thinking how amazing the whole thing actually is.

I’m growing a tiny person inside of me! Does anyone else think that is amazing/weird all at the same time? (Still working on the surreal-ness of it all.)

Gender Prediction: Although many of my symptoms lead to old wives tales saying Peanut will be a girl…I have this feeling it is a little boy. However, only time will tell, and either way we will be excited!

What’s new this week?: Apart from little body changes here and there, I have gained zero baby weight…yet. I am sure that will all change as my nausea has subsiding (YAY!) and now I am actually realizing how hungry I am. 🙂

My inner fat kid, which technically I can say and it is true, is very happy with me eating more and not feeling sick.

Food Likes: Well, Peanut is really liking hamburgers, especially from Wendys! Anyone who knows me will find this strange because I was a vegetarian. However, with a little person inside me, I figured meat is something baby needs, and it seems to be happy for that diet change.

Also, baby likes Greek yogurt that has tasty flavorings, which mummy also enjoys.

I even had my first steak in 3 or so years tonight! It was delicious and seems to get a thumbs up from the inside.

Food NOPES: With the nausea slowly becoming less, I have realized a few foods that make mummy and baby unhappy. Firstly, iceburg lettuce. Again, ironic since I was a vegetarian…however, spinach and kale are perfectly fine.

I also find myself getting queasy with soda and things that are SICKLY sweet. Neither of these are a bad thing, so I am okay with it.

Fun Facts: This week I told my students I was pregnant, they all died with excitement and are now asking me daily when I will find out the gender.

Also, I am currently working two jobs and still have not been hit too hard with fatigue (let’s hope this stays.)

AWHHHH! And I had a cute 7th grader who I love give me cute little baby onesies the other day at school. Highlight of my week. They can be so thoughtful sometimes. 🙂

13 weeks down, 27 to go!

Shout outs to my students last year who follow my blog and asked me to keep it updated on baby news: Ketrin, Ashley, Jessica and Faith ❤

That little “+”

“What! That was fast… It must be broken.” Those were the first words that popped into my head when I saw the little pee stick turn from blank to a plus sign on the morning of March 6, 2015.

Yup, that’s right ladies and gents. The hubby and I are expecting a peanut of our own!

However, one pee stick was not convincing. So, I did what any other reasonable adult would do: drink a bottle of water as fast as I could and take another one.

Result was the same! Oh my!

Well, more water and two more tests later (yes, that’s 4 in total) I was starting to believe the evidence. Although, I did look up on google the chances of having 4 false positive at home tests… Very, very unlikely. My eggo was prego, no doubt about it.

Well, 12 weeks and 4 doctor appointments later, my mind is finally realizing there’s a baby growing in this belly of mine!

Although we don’t know gender, Michael and I have names sorted (assuming neither of us change our minds in the next 6 months).

I have yet to gain any baby weight, but I know that’ll soon change. My first trimester was one filled with nausea and being uncomfortable. Finally, the nausea is subsiding and I’m realizing how darn hungry I am!

Another huge relief is letting the social media world know of our exciting news! We had been waiting due to the amount of stalking my students like to do… Didn’t need that spreading from middle school lips to ears without my consent.

(I am telling my classes this week.. They’re going to be so excited! I’ll post my baby announcing lesson plan on www.unteacherlyteacher.com within the week.)

Baby Hill is expected to arrive November 8, 2015! (Yay babies!)

12 weeks down, 28 weeks to go!
