Okinawa, Japan: The zoo, aquarium and Cape Hedo

After my niece was born and all the excitement of delivering a baby simmered, my brother wanted to make sure my mom and I did some sightseeing while we were in Okinawa.

First thing we did is go to one of the zoos Okinawa has to offer.

The zoo was lots of fun. We fed fishes, got to see some animals…you know, typical zoo things.

Minus the giant spider webs that hung right where people walked with GIGANTIC spiders on them, the zoo was lots of fun.

The zoo was not quite so big and the animal cages were much smaller than the ones I am use to seeing, but it was really fun either way.

Got to see some snakes and things that were native to Japan too. It amazes me how such different animals live in different parts of the world.

Later on in the week my brother, mom and I went to the other side of the island for a family day out. First stop: The Aquarium.

This aquarium is the second largest aquarium in the world…and man it was absolutely gorgeous!

It was built directly on the water. So, when we went to the dolphin show first. OH MY GOSH! The dolphin show was AMAZING!

I can see why Japan and China rule over American’s (usually) in diving and things like that….WOW!

After the amazing show. We went into the aquarium…oh my! You should see the size of the fish tanks.

I was in awe of how amazing and beautiful it was.

As you can see from the picture, the tank was big enough to host two big whale sharks comfortably. With tons of other fish along with them.

After the awesome trip to the stunning aquarium. We went to the northern most part of the island…also known as Cape Hedo.

It was quite a drive to get there from the aquarium. We went around and followed the road with a beautiful view off the island. Nice driving scenery, that is for sure.

Once we got to back roads…my brother was getting sick of driving…and LET ME DRIVE!

First time I have driven on the other side of the road. Luckily, living in London, I am use to riding on the other side…so driving was not terribly different. It really was not that hard. Lots of fun to actually drive in Japan.

I felt like a cool kid. Without a doubt.

Once we got there we took loads of pictures. The tip top point of the island was beautiful.

I love how many beautiful places there are in the world. This is one of them. I can see why people would never want to leave Okinawa. It is a gorgeous island.
