Thought for the day: True friends

I find it interesting how as your grow older you come to really recognise who your REAL friends are.

I thought I had that somewhat sorted out when I first moved to England. I realised quickly who really cared and wanted to stay in touch, and who just forgot I existed.

Now, my perception on who my friends are has once again changed now that I have moved back to Florida.

Friends who know I am back in town, who I thought would want to catch up and so on have put in very little to no effort.

I am not saying I expect to have a bunch of these people texting me daily.

I have a handful of friends who live busy lives like me, but they still make a point every week or so to text me or Facebook me to see how I am doing.

That is a true friend.

Not the people who act like they want to stay in touch but only respond to effort I put towards the friendship.

I don’t even know what kind of friendship that is.

I have been home for about a month now, and it has been interesting to see who has put forth any effort to even send me a text to say hello.

I enjoy finding out who my true friends are verses these people I thought were friends, but I realise they are nothing more than acquaintances.

Some of you may read this and think “hmm…she may be talking about me.” If you have to think that…then yes, this is probably referring to you.

However, I must say…thank you to all my TRUE friends who have put in some effort. Not only those friends from Florida..but also all of my friends from around the world.

Thank you for being a real friend.

My Top 10 Songs on the Westside Database

I have decided on my last show here at Westside to play my listeners my TOP TEN SONGS in our database here in the studio.

So, only seemed fair to blog what my Top 10 Songs are so you can enjoy them as well 🙂

(I have also attached the links to the songs in their title…enjoy!)

10: Carly Rae Jespen – Call Me Maybe

It has a good tune and I know all the words. Plus, it’s quite funny. Lame  or not, I love it.

9: Black Eyed Peas – Imma Be

Uhh…who doesn’t love this song? That’s what I thought. MAKES ME WANNA DANCE!

8: Justin Bieber – Boyfriend

I have an obsession with JB. I find him precious…and I love his songs. Everyone at Westside and my listeners know I have a slight case of Bieber fever…and I will never deny it.

7: Naughty Boy ft Emeli Sande – Wonder

The beat and vocals in this song instantly made me fall in love with it. I don’t think I could possibly get sick of hearing it. Absolutely lovely.

6: Daley ft Jessie J – Remember Me

This song just has some swag to it that I can’t explain. I love it…plus it is CONSTANTLY stuck in my head.

5: Maroon 5 – Payphone

Adam Levine…you are attractive and you can sing. I approve.

4: DBanj – Oliver Twist

I know this doesn’t really seem my type of music. But the beat to this song is EPIC and I suppose you can say Westside rubbed off on my music taste a bit. 😉

3: Taylor Swift – I Knew You Were Trouble

It pains me to have a T. Swift song on my Top 10…but I can’t deny that this song is much different from her norm and actually is really good. I like it. No judgement if you do too.

2: Justin Bieber – As Long As You Love Me

HELLO! Bieber fever remember…yes, he is on my list twice. You know you (secretly) love it.

1: XO Man – Quag

A majority of my friends in the States have never heard this (probably because he is from West London)…and when they do they become OBSESSED! If you enjoy humour and a catchy tune, this song is for you. You are welcome.

There you have it. My Top 10 tracks I play on my show here at Westside. It’s been fun y’all. Don’t forget…

KEEP IT WESTSIDE!

Thought for the day: Drivetime has come to an end

I’m sad to say it, but I am officially down to my last four Drivetime shows on Westside 89.6FM.

Leaving London means leaving my hosting slot on my favourite West London radio station.

However, I would have no changed the experience for anything.

I have learned SO MUCH over the past 6 months working at the station.

My confidence and radio personality has reached more of its potential than I would have ever thought.

As host and producer to my own show I got to not only be the personality, but run the board and pick the subjects I talk about on the show.

Funny national days, celeb birthdays, music news and entertainment gossip are all a part of my show.

Even taking the tunes OLD SKOOL for part of my show is something I brought to my slot.

I have THREE SHOWS LEFT after today. So, if you want to show some love and support you can stream it online…

www.westsideradio.co.uk

OR (if you have a smart phone, iPhone, or android) download the TuneIn Radio app…and look up Westside 89.6 FM.

I am on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4pm – 7pm (GMT).

Thank you to all those who have listened to my show, I appreciate the support and requests!

Westside love to you.

My Top 5 Moments in 2012

So, since it is almost the end of 2012…why not pick out my TOP 5 highlights of the year and give them some much deserved credit.

So, let the countdown begin…

NUMBER FIVE

I got to experience the best summer yet in London with the Queen’s Jubilee and Olympics all within the span of a few months.

Talk about a summer to remember!

NUMBER FOUR

image

In October I was able to meet my favorite musician, Brandon Heath, and talk to him.

It was amazing and worth being a highlight of my year!

I was even able to show him the tattoo I have on my side which is the lyrics of my favourite song of his.

He loved it so much, he took a picture of it!

If you don’t count that as a highlight…I don’t know what is!

(Thank you mom for making it possible for us to meet him, you’re the best mom in the whole world!)

NUMBER THREE

Being able to fly to Japan to be there to witness my niece being born!

Being a part of that sweet little girl’s first coupe weeks of life was spectacular.

I mean, look at that cute little face and that SMILE! How could you not be happy to love on and take naps with something so adorable?!

She was a great birthday present for me, since she was born just a few days before my 23rd.

I wouldn’t have missed it for the world! Love this little girl.

NUMBER TWO

I have the most amazing boyfriend.

So, meeting him is of course on my list of highlights this past year which I am so incredibly thankful for.

Leave it to me to find myself a Brit only a few months before my visa expires….but I wouldn’t change anything about it.

He is my little dark rain cloud, but he is fantastic non the less.

🙂

NUMBER ONE

image

Even though all these highlights have been amazing…one takes the cake.

That is finally graduating with my Masters Degree…and not only that, but graduating with merit.

The past year has been incredible. I have made some life long friends and experienced so much.

Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this year. Words cannot express how much gratitude I owe you.

All I know now is…

If 2012 was this amazing…I can only imagine how much is in store for me in 2013.

Thought for the day: English v. American Christmas

This year was my first Christmas away from home…instead I was able to go home with my boyfriend to meet his family.

His family is from Thetford, which is in Norfolk, England for those of you who don’t know where I am talking about.

Thetford has that small town feeling which I absolutely loved, it was nice to meet some of my boyfriend’s family.

Spending Christmas in England made me realise some great differences in this joyous celebration.

First thing I noticed was how much more of a drinking celebration Christmas seems to be in England, which I am not used to.

However, I must say, the alcohol made for some memories and fun. Definitely not saying the English have the party aspect incorrect…however it is much different from I am familiar with.

Second fun thing that is much more an English tradition during Christmas than American are Christmas crackers

…if you don’t know what they are…time to google 😉

Christmas crackers are quite a cute and fun tradition…and you get a paper crown to wear during Christmas dinner!

HOW FUN! aka..I loved it.

Any excuse to wear a crown 🙂

I had so much fun experiencing Christmas in England and would gladly do it again.

Although I missed my family, my boyfriend’s family made me feel at home and did their best to make me have a great Christmas with their family.

All  around, it was a great Christmas and hope yours was too. XX

Thought for the day: Graduation

On Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Royal Festival Hall near Waterloo Station in London, England….

My coursemates and I met up for one final celebration by walking down the University of Westminster red carpet, shake hands to the heads of our department, and get our diploma.

We finally did it.

We made it through the year of stress, tears, countless projects and plenty of laughs and have come out with a new title to our names.

We are now Masters of journalism.

Watch out world, here we come…and were coming at you with new eyes, new skills and plenty of personality to keep you informed and entertained for years to come.

Congratulations c/o 2012

WE DID IT!!

Sneak Peak: Something new I am working on

How could I do this to myself.

I even said I did not want anything. Something light,  something casual.
How hard could that be, right?

I mean, I can’t even get emotionally attached to close friends, let alone some guy I fancy.

“I don’t do emotional attachment. Pretty sure I am broken.”

That is what I told him. At the moment I meant it…certainly was not expecting things to change so drastically.

How did this one manage to change the way I think about relationships? Why is he so different?

I mean, it certainly can’t be his slightly cynical look on things, complete opposite of me in that sense.

His honesty is one that most are not used to either. Honesty like this most don’t even have with family members, let alone people they just met.

What is it about him then? So enticing that I can’t get enough. He makes my stomach do that twisty turvy thing.

I can’t eat. I can’t sleep. All I want is him. All day every day.

All I can do is scream at myself , “YOU LEAVE THE COUNTRY IN JANUARY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

My subconscious is right. What have I gotten myself into?

Leave it to me to fall, and fall head over heels, for someone who lives an ocean away from where my actual home is.

I mean, Florida is my home, but London will always have my heart.

And now, along with London, this Brit has a piece of my heart… and I don’t plan on getting it back any time soon.

We may fight and have different views on many things, but none of that matters.

The fact of the matter is, I love him.

**to be continued… this is something new I am working on as a side project. hope you enjoyed it :)**

Thought for the day: Sometimes you just need a change

So, as I do every 5 weeks (like clockwork), I went to get my dark brown roots covered up with some bleach to put on the illusion that I am naturally blonde.

Yes, for those of you who did not realise I am NOT naturally blonde, I am a fake.

At least hair colour wise, with moments I am truly blonde sometimes 😉
Anyhow, I decided I needed a change.

You know those moments when you just feel the need to change something.

Needing to spice up your normal, stressful life with a change or distraction.

Yup, that was me today.
So I did something to spice up my life.

I cut my hair.

Now, my hairdresser back in Florida has been convincing me for the last couple years to let my hair grow out, when I have always loved it short.

Sorry Joe, I cut off your hard work and masterpiece.

I absolutely love it short.

I did the cut off of a picture of the gorgeous Hayden Panettierre when her hair was in a medium length bob.

So, that is what I did.

Chop chop.

Off went 3 inches at least of my hair…and I couldn’t be more happy with my decision to cut it.

Although, my boyfriend has not seen it yet, so we will see what he thinks.

Everyone else who has seen it has been a fan thus far though thankfully.

So, moral of the story is:

When you need a change…JUST DO IT.

you’re welcome. the end.

Thought for the day: Long overdue

Hiya guys,
I apologise for the lack of blogging over the past couple months. It has been one crazy few months. Wonder what has kept me occupied? Here are just a few examples:

1. Still having no job luck…I am slowly but surely realising how near impossible it is to get sponsorship unless you are a Doctor or a Scientist of some sort.

…apparently I went into the wrong profession.

BUT IM NOT GIVING UP! I may have a few tricks up this pink sleeve of mine 😉

2. I got myself a boyfriend ❤

He is absolutely amazing…and British. All you girls back home, be jealous I get to listen to that lovely English accent every day.

3. I am working as the Drivetime show presenter for a radio station in West London every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4pm – 7pm (GMT).

You can stream it online if you want to support and show me some love:

www.westsideradio.co.uk

Other than those things I really have no excuse for my slacking when it comes to my pink, sparkly blog.

So, watch out internet explorers…the Blondie is back and her blog is up and running once again 🙂

Thought for the day: Best Pedi EVER!

For my birthday, my mom and sister-in-law made an appointment to go get pedicures!

Can I just say…best pedicure I have ever gotten!

They took their jobs and nails as if it was an art.

It was amazing!

They did a legitimate massage which felt so amazing. My calves and feet needed it.

I got to pick from a giant book of what design I wanted on my toes.

SO MANY CHOICES TO CHOOSE FROM!

And I am quite an indecisive person…which was a challenge. However, I decided to get something that I could not get at home or in London.

HELLO KITTY!

It was between that or Tigger. But since Hello Kitty is more of a popular here in Japan, so I figure I would live it up and get me some pink and Hello Kitty on my toes. 🙂

BEST DECISION EVER! I am obsessed with them!

Yes, I know that I just wrote an entire blog about my toes…but I am a girl…and this is a Blonde’s P.O.V.

Soooooo I like my toes today.

PLUS: It is my birthday 🙂 I do what I want today! x
