Princess Kate was photographed wearing a dress from Zara at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday night. The dress only cost £69.99 from the high street clothing store.
The short, flower detailed, cream and black dress was absolutely perfect for the occasion with black Ralph Lauren jacket she wore over the dress.
If you want the princess’ look, apparently we all know we can now shop at Zara for an affordable look that will also be classy and sophisticated.
One of the Middleton’s friends who helped out with the wedding, Tony Glenville, who is a professor at London College of Fashion says, “Kate Middleton will be criticised for everything. If she shops at an expensive, high end boutique, she will be critised…
“She shops at a store on High Street, she gets critised. Not matter what she does, the media will turn her style into a story…and I am sure eventually, if she keeps it up, the media will not see her style preferences as a story anymore.”
When talking to Zara shoppers, they seemed pretty optimistic about the Duchess shopping at a chain clothing store and promotes High Street’s style.
Intern at A Child of the Jago, Sarah Dudley, thinks that from a fashion and PR standpoint, this purchase of a Zara dress by Kate will show everyone that she really is “the people’s princess”.
However, be warned, as soon as Kate buys a dress and the media gets hold of it, the dress will go out of stock quicker than you can blink. This dress has sold out on both the US and UK Zara websites.
So, if you want to copy the Duchess’ sense of style, go shopping on High Street. Royalty can wear affordable clothing as well.
Think like Princess Kate, shop like Princess Kate, dress like Princess Kate.
