Thought for the day: I SURVIVED MY MASTERS PROGRAMME!

12 Interviewees.

5 hours of material.

35 hours of editing.

6000 words written.

3 trees used.

2 CDs burned.

1 year of stress being above the average person’s capacity.

MA Final Radio Documentary Submitted.

TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Somehow, I managed to live through my Masters Degree.

A two-year programme crammed into one year? Good idea…possibly?

Minus the amount of stress I had and the amount of food I managed to eat to comfort myself in time of depression…

I say it was totally worth it.

I am honestly just happy it is finished and done with.

So CHEERS to all those in my course!

Whether you are print, broadcast or online…of MAJ v. MAJI

Guys…I am not sure if you have realised this…

WE DID IT!

After the countless times we were told some of us would fail.

The countless times we questioned if we were REALLY in the right career choice.

Through blood, sweat and tears…and PLENTY of laughs.

WE ARE FINISHED!

In all seriousness though:

To my coursemates…I could not have made it through this year without every single one of you. I love you all dearly and can’t wait to see where we all end up.

I wish you all every happiness!

We now can go out into the world…and find big kid jobs (oh my!)

All I know is after a year such as this, we ALL deserve a drink….or five. :)

Thought for the day: My reaction to liars

I am not sure what it is about lies..

But something about them really just gets to me.

When you are close to someone, you trust them…you don’t expect them to lie to you.

Especially not to your face.

I had a recent mess of a situation come to my attention where I found out two people close to me AND another friend lied to my face…on more than one occasion.

Sadly, when the truth came out…the fact they lied about it and kept up the lie for a couple of months hurt more than what they lied about.

So much for these people understanding me like I thought they did.

Apparently, I was wrong.

Lying is the one thing I won’t tolerate from people in my life.

If I trust you, and you trust me…lying will never make things better.

I am all about telling the truth (even if it hurts) because for me, if you truly want to bring me to tears…lie to me.

So, please people…if you are my friend or want to be a considered a close friend…DON’T LIE TO ME!

And for the three I am referring to in this post…this is a warning..I forgive you and still love you.

However, don’t lie to me again…you’ve already lost a majority of my trust…next time you might just lose a friend.

GM Diet: Day Four

Sorry folks, I had to give in and eat some protein.

I decided this diet would be great if I wanted to starve myself, but the food that you were to eat along with the lack of vital nutrients made me crave protein more than you can imagine.

AND IM A PESCATERIAN! (I only eat fish)

Honestly, I think this diet has some okay plans, but I just can’t eat another piece of melon or eat another can of corn without losing it.

I think if you did this general idea of a diet, but added some source of protein in there come day three/four, you could possibly make it.

I feel much better today with some salmon in my system.

Cravings are gone, tummy is happy.

Also, lemon water (warm) helps with the cravings as well.

I am sure there are much better diets out there that make you less hungry and cause you to have less cravings.

If this worked for you though, that is fantastic! You have much more will power than I do.

I, however, love food!

I am American after all. ;)

GM Diet: Day Three

Day three is all veggies and fruits EXCEPT NO BANANAS OR POTATOES this day.

Breakfast:

So, I started off my day with some dried mango. Which was quite yummy. Extremely sweet though so I did not eat much.

I had sort of a weird day so far. I showed up for the early shift at work, and I worked late. So, I went back home and napped after breakfast until I needed to be up for work again.

Lunch:

Come lunch time I was extremely hungry. I opened up a can or corn (yes, i love corn) and put a bag of baby carrots in my purse so I could munch on my way to work.

Genius. I know.

Dinner:

Tomatoes, more corn and apples. Yummy I know.

Needless to say, don’t expect to eat much with this diet.

GM Diet: Day two

Well, due to going out last night, I slept through most of my day two which I believe in the end helped me out.

Either way, day two is suppose to be ALL VEGGIES.

They encourage you to start your first meal off with a potato (they say you can add one slab of butter…which is nice).

So, by the time I was functioning and ready to eat it was about dinner-ish time.

I made myself a potato along with a can of corn.

Later on, before I fell back asleep (which was like 9p, yes, I am an old lady). I also made got myself some cucumbers.

Now, I cheated a bit and had a little bit of cream cheese with my cucumber.

I was not nearly as hungry or sluggish by day two which was  a nice change from day one.

I also should have drank alot more water during day two.

Only real downside, I am craving a diet coke. Resisting the bubbly yumminess of diet coke is becoming quite difficult…but don’t worry, I am staying strong.

Day two complete. Let’s go day three :)

GM Diet: Day One

Day one of the dieting is off to an okay start.

The guidelines for this diet say today is ONLY FRUIT EXCEPT BANANAS

The guidelines also encourage you to eat mainly melons as your sources of fruit on this day, helps to jump start the Weight loss process.

Breakfast:

So, I bought myself one of those melon variety fruit packs from the grocery store. It contained cantaloupe, watermelon and honey dew melon.

Can I just add that I really don’t like melon, love fruit, minus melon.

So, needless to say, the 400g melon variety I ate for breakfast was a bit hard to eat. Although, I did manage to make myself it all.

So, if you like melon…this day will be well easier for you that it is for me so far.

Lunch:

Now, I bought some dried fruit to change it up a bit for myself today.

Two hours later, I am hungry once again….so I’m picking at some dried apricots.

**On my breaks at work I am also swimming to wake myself up and to get my body moving. Makes me feel better, since life guarding is a lot of sitting down.

1000m is about 250kcals.

The diet guidelines don’t say to work out, but I think 30minutes of cardio a day won’t hurt the weight loss process.**

DONT FORGET!! DRINK 8 – 12 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY!!

Dinner:

For dinner I had two apples and a sandwich bag mixed with raspberries and blueberries.

About 5pm I started quickly losing energy and feeling a bit sluggish.

The lack of food and the heat fro, my job probably are to blame for the headache as well.

I have drank plenty of water, pretty sure I have exceeded the 12 glass mark.

All together I feel quite good!

One rule of this diet is no alcohol, however, it is a bank holiday, so I believe a glass of wine will be an okay cheat.

Plus, with the lack of substantial food I’ve eaten today, one glass of white wine is all it will take and I’ll be good for the evening.

Day one = success! Bring on day two!! :)

Thought for the day: The GM Diet

I have made a deal with myself. Since I am working at a gym and constantly feel the need to get fit, it is time to get my little self back to looking and feeling athletic again.

I have begun swimming daily, that is a good start.

And along with my current diet pescaterian and gluten free, I am already feeling fitter.

However, my weight loss goal of 10lbs (about 5kg for my English friends) I need a bit of a jump start.

I’ve set myself a goal: lose the weight and I can get another tattoo.

Now, the right jump start diet to help me out…

I had a friend who recently tried the GM (General Motors) diet.

Now, this diet is pretty intense. It’s 7 days with a strict diet plan.

I figured “why not give it a try?”

So, the next seven days I will be following this diet plan and blogging daily about how it’s working and how I feel.

Complete honesty! That way if you want to try it as well, you can!

My body type? I am about 5ft 3in and weigh about 150lbs (70kgs or 11st)

I am about the average woman’s build; curvy in the right places, but wishing I had a little extra cushion if ya know what i mean.

Also, please note I’m doing the vegetarian version of the GM diet, the normal version allows you to eat beef on day four and five I believe.

So, wish me luck! And be prepared for some feedback on this diet trend. :)
