Baby update: 39 weeks!

As everyone else I know is having their little ones, I sit here writing yet another blog post because my tiny human is comfy and doesn’t want to come out yet. *sigh*

This week, Baby Hill is around the size of a watermelon (yes, I finally got to use that fruit equivalent!). She weighs around 7 pounds and is anywhere between 19-21 inches long.

Peanut is fully cooked at this point and can come at any moment!

Doctor Appointment Update : At my last visit, we had some improvement. I was 70% effaced and 1 centimeter dilated.

Even with that bit of progress, our little princess has decided inside mummy’s tummy is better than the real world… And so, we continue to anxiously await her arrival.

I also found it interesting that I have lost nearly two pounds since my last appointment. Apparently that is normal due to baby continuing to grow and make less and less room for the rest of my under parts.

Fingers crossed that she comes before my next appointment…that would be a nice thing for her to do 😉

The Struggle: With one week till baby’s due date, I am a miserable human being.

I can’t sleep, can’t breathe properly if I lie down, and my back hurts. And, on top of all that, life itself and pretty much everyone in it annoys me.

My recent motto has become, “I give zero f@!#s”. Because… Well, I don’t.

Birthday Predictions: At this point, I have no clue when she’ll arrive. I truly believed she would be an October baby… And as of today that is no longer possible.

To keep from becoming anxious/frustrated, I have stopped assuming she’ll come soon. I mean, if she’s not out within a week, the princess is getting evicted from the castle anyways.

Sorry (not sorry) darling, you can’t stay in there forever.

Other things: I find it amusing when people ask how far I am, I tell them, and then they find out I am still working as a middle school teacher.

Yes, I am about to pop (literally).

Yes, I still teach and coach full-time.

Why? Because I like being busy and don’t feel the need to sit at home, be bored, and be more miserable that I already feel. Also, we need the money AND I may slightly be a crazy person on top of it all. 😉

On a plus, my maternity leave starts after this Friday. Can’t believe I am going to make it to my last week of teaching before baby arrives.

As the days flutter by, I am more and more anxious to meet my little girl and finally hold her in my arms. I’m looking forward to all the hard work that is to come. Hopefully see you soon little one. ❤️

39 weeks down, 1 week to go!

Baby Update: 38 weeks!

14 days left. I believe it is acceptable to now start counting down by days.

This week, Peanut is the size of swiss chard. So, that means she is weighing in at around 6.5 pounds and measuring about 20 inches long.

She is certainly proving to me daily how big she is getting. Stretching out is her favourite activity.

Doctor Appointment Update: Went in Thursday for another appointment. My cervix is softened, I am 50% effaced still and I am half a centimeter dilated. It has begun! Now to just get her moving a bit faster and I would be happy!

Also, apparently baby’s head is far enough down that the doctor could feel the tip of her head. That is a finger length away from her exit! WOW!

I have another appointment this week, so fingers crossed for even more of an improvement. 🙂

Helping her along: I have absolutely loved being pregnant…until the last week or so. I am uncomfortable, have no patience and am grumpy (sorry to those I have been sassy at).

So, to encourage her to hurry up, I have been trying to do things to jump-start labor.

  • I am walking…TONS. Which is not much of a change from my daily life since teachers walk lots anyways.
  • I attempt to eat spicier foods.
  • I take the stairs when possible. For those of you who know my level of clumsiness, don’t worry. I only take the stairs UP…not DOWN. I don’t need help falling, especially with my center of gravity being all baby belly.
  • I also have started bouncing on a yoga ball. This one I have been told helps a lot. It has managed to make me feel funny, so we will see if yoga ball bouncing is magical or nah.

Birthday Predictions: My sister thinks baby will be here on October 27th. I am hoping she is right. I personally do not want my peanut born on Halloween. So she better not miss her window of opportunity. 😉

Delivery worries & thoughts: I am starting to realise that soon I will be birthing a small human. It is quite scary. I have faith it’ll all be fine, but still, thoughts of things that could go wrong pop into my head sometimes.

Luckily, my husband is reassuring and helps me put my worries aside.

At this point, I am so ready to have her in my arms that anticipation outweighs my worries. HURRY UP TINY ONE!

Other fun things: My poor furbabies must know something is going on. Both have been extremely cuddly the last few days. Perhaps that is a sign!

My TP divers had Districts the other day. Baby was good and didn’t come while I was judging (that could have been awkward). YAY for my kiddos as well for making it to Regions! Now, we just need to hope baby comes before or after Regions so I can go 🙂

38 weeks down, 2 weeks to go!

Baby Update: Week 37!

IMG_4174Figured at this point in the pregnancy I may as well update on a weekly basis since baby can come whenever she wants.

This week baby is the size of a winter melon (which I didn’t know existed). So she is measuring anywhere between 19-21 inches and is weighing somewhere between 6-6.5 pounds.

This baby girl is attempting to stretch my tummy out to its very limit. The constant discomfort has officially set it. I am ready for this tiny human to come meet mummy and daddy now.

Baby Doctor Appointments: I am officially on weekly visits to the Doctors so they can check on Peanut regularly.

This week I had to have my finger pricked, which I am sooooo glad I did not know ahead of time. I HATE my finger being pricked. Possibly my least favourite thing in the world.

However, my iron is up two points so that’s a good thing! Glad to know the supplements are doing their job.

Baby’s heart rate is still a strong 140 and she is measuring well. I have still not hit the 25 pound mark for pregnancy weight gain, so I am pretty happy with that.

To my slight disappointment surprise my cervix is still closed and I am not dilated AT ALL. I am 50% effaced, but that means very little without dilation at this point. So, all that pelvic pain and groin tingle/pain is just baby staying comfortable…not getting ready to meet us. (Must admit I am a little sad about it).

Baby Prep: I finally received my Posh Pushers labor and delivery gown in the mail! So excited to look cute and stylish to welcome our little princess into the world! Plus, who wouldn’t pick a pink and white gown to the yucky blue ones they have at hospitals. Plus, now I don’t have to walk around with my tush hanging out for everyone to see.

Hospital bag for baby and mummy are set and ready to go. I added the finishing touches yesterday, including my pink owl Boppy for baby to relax on when breastfeeding.

Symptoms: I can now understand why most women find the last few weeks of pregnancy to be the hardest. HOLY COW AM I UNCOMFORTABLE!

This baby has me peeing constantly, feeling pains through my pelvis, groin and legs, and my waddle (which I like to call pregnancy swag) is looking as fabulous as ever.

I even had one of my middle school darlings comment on my waddle the other day. He was running to lunch and came up to me saying, “Mrs. Hill! I thought you were a student for a second, then I saw your waddle and I knew nahhhh that’s just Mrs. Hill.” I couldn’t help but laugh out loud, plus, he is one of my favourite little 8th graders.

Birthday Predictions: Well, my prediction and my husbands prediction have passed. My mom thinks today…so we will see. At this point, I have decided to stop hoping and wishing her to come early so I can relax and NOT get my hopes up. Baby will be here when she is good and ready…

It is amazing how quickly this is all going to happen! Literally any day now she could decide it is time to come out! Although I am not looking forward to the pain of labor, I am looking forward to holding my little girl for the first time.

37 weeks down, 3 weeks more to go!

Baby Update: 36 weeks!

Holy cow! Only one month (or less) to go before the tiny human is here!

This week our darling little Peanut is the size of a large cantaloupe. Weighing in at around 6lbs and measuring around 19 inches in length.

Lots of fun has happened the past two weeks, so here we go…

Baby Doctor Appointment Update: I went in last Thursday for another check up. Baby is measuring about 13 inches from head to rump! I can’t figure out how she still fits in there…can’t imagine it’s comfy.

Also was checked out and had no dilation yet. The cramping I had was a slight case of Braxton Hicks and I was told to monitor them.

My next appointment is this Thursday. I can’t wait to see if there is any progress with baby’s time to arrive!

Symptoms: As of the last week or so I have had HORRIBLE pelvic pain. After calling my doctor’s office and some googling, I found out I am neither dying or alone in feeling this pain. This pain is caused by baby dropping and my pelvic bone making room for her to eventually exit. I was told in most cases the pain goes away after a couple of days, I am apparently not most cases. Go figure 😉

However, due to the pelvic pain and fatigue of the last few weeks of pregnancy, I have enjoyed a couple of personal days off work. It was nice spending time with the furbabies and the hubby.

Birthday Predictions: my close group of teacher friends (squad) have put in their predictions. They seem to think baby will be here sometime between October 20-25.

Other Fun Things: The hubby and I went to a wedding last night. I managed to wear heels and still dance the night away (to an extent). Although, towards the end of the evening I was happy to take off my shoes and head home to sleep.

My hospital bag is almost packed… Still needing to add some things, but I hope to get that done today 🙂

Can’t believe she will be here so soon!

36 weeks down, 4 more to go!

Baby Update: Week 34!

Time is flying by! 34 weeks already? Peanut will be here before we know it!

This week, baby is about the size of a pineapple. Weighing in at around 5 pounds and is anywhere between 18-20 inches long!

That size explains why she is making my tummy more and more tight…poor thing is running out of room!

Also explains why she thinks stretching out is a good idea, someone must be cramped (please note, it hurts when she does that).

Pregnancy Symptoms: Well, first things first. I have felt my energy drastically decrease the past two weeks. I am sure the lack of sleep and the working two jobs isn’t helping that problem. But dang, I just feel worn out constantly.

IMG_3890I also have acquired a fun pregnancy symptom…swollen feet. Now, after being up on my feet most of the day my feet swell. Now, funniest part is my right foot swells more than my left, which makes me have one kankle.

I now know the struggle Kim Kardashian faced while pregnant with her first little one….kankles are the new sexy, duh!

I also have been having some random, slight cramping…So, I will be getting fully looked at (if you know what I mean) when I go in for my Doctor’s appointment on Thursday! Excited and nervous to see just how things ‘down there’ are going.

Baby Prep: I have officially packed all things baby will need for when we have to go to the hospital! Now, just to get a hospital bag packed for myself and daddy. I plan on doing that this week…since we never really know when she will make her arrival into this world, better to be prepared.

IMG_3888Baby’s Birthday: Last week, I made a poster board that looked like a calendar and allowed my students to make a prediction on when they thought Baby Hill would be born. The kids are having fun with getting a bit involved in baby things, especially when a prize is involved for those who guessed the correct date.

I put my guess in as well…I guessed October 15th as baby’s birthday.

Other Thoughts: The other night, while laying in bed talking with my husband, I came to the (scary and exciting) realization that we could have a tiny baby in 2-3 weeks. I knew time was sneaking up on me…but this truly made me have a reality check. However, although that realization slightly freaked me out and gave me some anxiety, I believe I am ready to welcome my little girl into the world and finally hold her in my arms.

34 weeks down, 6 weeks to go!

Snapchat update fails

So, I recently updated my Snapchat so I could take cool new selfies with rainbows coming out of my mouth or look like I am a Secret Service Agent.

After updating my Snapchat I attempted to get the new selfie filters to work. Can I just say, at 26 I have never felt old with technology until that day. I could not for the life of me get it to work.

Thankfully, my sister (who is 21) showed me how to do it while at breakfast. Then the fun began. Sort of.

The first filter I tried was the teary-eyed one. Clearly, my nostrils are my eyeballs? Gross. Thanks Snapchat.

Second I tried the rainbow barf filter. Took me a while, but I ended up getting it after about 20 tries.

Next up, crazy cartoon villan face. The photo says it all. WTF?

Last but not least, I tried the heart eyes filter. Once again, I failed miserably. Thanks Snapchat.

Not sure about all of you, but am I the only one who can’t seem to get the hang of these selfie filters? Perhaps I need to practice more…or give up and stick to normal selfies with duck face or cheesing smiles.

Baby Update: 32 weeks!

I am officially 8 months pregnant now…t-8 weeks till we meet our little peanut!

This week, Peanut is the size of a head of lettuce. So she should be anywhere from 18-19 inches long and nearly 4 pounds!

Baby Hill should be around the length she will be when she meets the world, however, she has bake a bit longer to add some chub to her cute little self. 🙂

Baby Prep: The last couple weeks I have been attempting to truly prep myself and my husband for Peanut’s arrival. Just today we toured the hospital where she will (hopefully) be born. The hospital is beautiful and I feel a bit more confident in the labor process.

Apart from slowing getting the nursery put together (thankfully, we are almost done!) I put the baby’s car seat in the back of the car already.

You may think this seems a bit early…but we want our puppy, Morrison, to get use to tiny human things being in his normal areas. In this case, it’s the back seat where he sits during car rides. Other than sniffing the new object, he did great and shared like a champ!

Other Baby Things: I am now going to see the OBGYN every two weeks versus every month. Must mean its crunch time. I am also rotating doctors so I am able to meet all possibilities who could be delivering my baby.

Baby is quickly running out of room in the womb and let me tell you CAN I FEEL IT! I am now able to feel my skin stretching daily and I won’t say it is a good feeling. However, I can’t say much because I would not be happy if I was in a tiny, cramped space either…so she is worth the discomfort.

Also, let me just sum up my sleeping these days: LABOR NIGHTMARES! Holy worst thing ever.

I have also noticed that my emotions are insane right now. I have very little patience (probably not good for being a middle school teacher) and I also cry much easier than normal. As my husband would say, I am a bit sensitive at the moment. That being said, my husband deserves a shout out for being great and dealing with my hot-mess, super pregnant self. 😉

Baby’s Birthday: So, although baby is due November 8th, I can’t help but have this feeling she will be like her daddy and have an October birthday.

My mom’s guess is she will be here October 18th. I am still debating on the date I want to guess for her arrival.

I find that it still has not fully sunk in that in a couple of months I will have a tiny human needing my undivided attention and stealing all the pieces of my heart. It amazes me that something so beautiful can be created in only 40 weeks and inside my belly.

I am getting more and more excited to meet my little princess. I only wish she knew how much I love her already ❤

32 weeks down, 8 weeks to go!

Baby Update: WEEK 30!

 Excuse me while I have a moment…

We have made it to 30 weeks…and I am feeling ALL the emotions. I can’t believe how soon I will be holding my darling little peanut.

This week, Peanut is measuring to be the size of a butternut squash. She is around 16 inches long and weighs around 3 pounds.

She is getting bigger by the day, and trust me…oh do I feel it.

The Pregnancy: As you can see, there is no more mistaking my bump for weight gain. I also am finding it harder and harder to wear my old clothes. Glad I am only just having this issue.

Baby is constantly moving around and making her mummy uncomfortable by pushing against my ribs with her teeny feet. She also gets VERY excited when daddy touches my belly and starts moving around to show him how much she loves him already. (What a daddy’s girl!)

I have a doctor’s appointment this Friday, and then I start having to go in every two weeks. I also will start rotating doctors so I meet the whole crew prior to giving birth. Makes me nervous but excited all at once.

10686612_10153014450538038_7651750796255870187_nBaby Facts: We had our 3D/4D ultrasound this week. IT WAS AMAZING! Worth every penny. We confirmed baby is in no doubt A GIRL! (Good thing too…I didn’t want to return all the pink). We also got to see her adorable little face, which made me tear up a little bit. It amazes me how the body turns something so tiny into a little human in just 40 weeks.

Anyways, baby has some chubby cheeks already, as you can see. She also is already facing the correct way for her arrival into the world. The funniest moment is seeing how tight she is getting in there, our little goof was getting a bit too close to my belly and ended up squashing her nose a couple of times. (lol)11934971_10153014450323038_3708321272206091481_n

Also this week:I got my cute Cath Kidston London diaper bag in the mail yesterday. It has cute little London busses all over it. Totally worth the wait. OBSESSED!

Tomorrow will be my second week of having students. I am hoping to not feel as tired as last week, but we will see. Trying to take it as easy as I can so peanut doesn’t feel stressed. I do have better classes this year, which makes my work days MUCH happier.

The kids are all excited about Baby Hill and they love my growing belly. However, I do have a “no touchy” rule. Can’t have all these middle schoolers all up in my space and touching my belly. Could be weird. So, they look from afar.

Next update will be at 32 weeks!

30 weeks down, 10 weeks to go!

Baby Update: 27 Weeks!

WOW! We are now well into month 6 of this pregnancy and wishing time would speed up/slow down at the same time!

Baby Hill is now the size of a cucumber. Measuring in around 15 inches long and weighing around 2.2 pounds.

As you would expect, growing baby also means growing belly. Baby likes to kick around and squirm regularly now. She really is having a party in there. Along with baby movements does come so discomfort, but she is worth every kick to the side and back ache.

Food: By now all the food cravings and aversions are the same as they have always been. Nothing new here. Baby has quite the sweet tooth!

Emotions: This deserves its own little subtitle this post because HOLY COW I have been soooo much more sensitive the last week or two than I have my entire pregnancy. Little things that normally would not bother me have caused me to burst into tears.

(For example, in Target with my hubby the other week and I cried because the bump was making finding a dress a struggle. If you want to read the whole experience it’s up on the mum blog, just click here!)

I have been really lucky on the emotional side of pregnancy hormone changes, but the last couple weeks has truly been a tearful one. Hoping this part does not last long…for me and my husband’s sake. 😉

Doctor Updates: Had my glucose test the other day. People are not joking about how gross the stuff you drink is. BLEH! Still waiting to hear about my results. *fingers crossed*

Update: got a call this morning, passed my glucose test! Yay! However, am needing to take an iron supplement because I am anemic. At least that’s an easy fix to help baby and myself stay healthy!

The doctor also measured my belly for the first time this appointment! I was pretty flattered. Means my belly has grown enough to measure! Woot! I have gained about 17 pounds so far in this pregnancy, and most of that is belly and breast weight (thankfully).

Fun Facts: We had an awesome baby shower the other weekend that my sister through for me. It was great! So many wonderful friends and family came to celebrate Peanut…and were amazing enough to give us some baby essentials to help us when she arrives.

The cutest activity my sister did was the onesie painting. It was adorable. Baby Hill will have tons of fun, decorated clothes to wear from newborn until 24 months!

Another exciting thing happened just the other day. I traded in my 2011 Ford Fiesta (stick shift) for an automatic 2012 Nissan Rogue. I am now officially feeling a bit more maternal with a cute SUV that can fit baby things better than my little pink hatchback would have.

I may have shed a tear or two once the trade was finalized due to the exciting new chapter in my life that is becoming more and more real everyday.

The next couple weeks will be crazy ones. High school diving season starts back up tomorrow and pre-school trainings start-up Tuesday. So long summer, hello busy fall schedule.

27 weeks down, 13 more to go!

Baby Update: 25 weeks! (& it’s my birthday!)

That is right, I am officially 26-years-old and Peanut is 25 weeks along in the womb!

This week my little lady is the size of a Rutabaga. Kind of a strange comparison… Anyways, this means baby is around 9 inches long and weighing around 1.7 pounds.

Not much new has happened in the past couple of weeks. Baby still kicks and moves A LOT! I can even see some of her movements now, which is a bit creepy, but awesome! She seems to kick most whenever mummy eats spicy foods or drinks sweet tea.

She also loves when I sing to her. Normally, I stick with Disney songs since they sound nice. Although, no matter the tune I am singing too, someone starts to move around and dance.

Already loving Disney and she is not even here yet…Daddy may be in trouble! 😉

She is growing bigger and bigger and so is my belly. Jeans officially do not button or zip anymore. Thank goodness for the belly band I bought at Target. I can still wear my jeans…and the belly band keeps my pants up all while looking like another layer to my outfit. Whoever created the belly band deserves a high-five from yours truly. 🙂

Since it is my birthday weekend I am going to change-up my post a little bit. I am going to list 8 (26: 2+6=8…my brain) things I am thankful for/am wishing for as I turn another year older and my little baby gets another day closer to her arrival.

#1: I am thankful for a loving husband who is going to make an amazing father to our little peanut. He has been working extraordinarily hard the last couple months to change jobs so we can be a bit more stable when Peanut arrives. I am so proud to call him my hubby.

#2: Along the same line, I am happy to have had a pretty easy pregnancy and a healthy baby so far! My little girl is looking great and developing properly. I pray the last couple months she stays healthy and grows big and strong for her arrival into this world. I love her so much already…and I haven’t even officially met her. Parenthood is magical, isn’t it?

#3: I am thankful for all the awesome support I have had throughout my pregnancy. Those who have given us a crib, a breast pump, clothing, advice, etc. A huge thank you to you all. 🙂

#4: I wish and hope I can be as good and loving of a mom to my little girl as my mom was to me. She is one of the strongest women I know and will do anything for her kids. II am so thankful to have her around and know she will be a great Gami to my little Peanut.

#5: I am wishing to have an easy, stress-free school year this year. I am hoping for my students to stay darlings and not become too horrible as the year progresses.

#6: On that same note, I am wishing/praying I find an amazing long-term sub to take over for me second quarter this year once Peanut is born.

#7:I am thankful that on this birthday I am able to spend time with my brother and his two babies as they are down visiting for a few days! I have never met my nephew, so I am excited to get to know him and of course catch up with my niece and brother.

#8: Last, but not least, I am thankful for all my family and friends who have supported me and been there for me, and have shows support for Michael and Baby Hill as well. Thank you to those who read and follow my blog. To everyonen in my life, you are amazing and I could not be more blessed. And again, Thank you! 🙂

25 weeks down, 15 weeks to go!
