Situation:
Three boys walking through campus see a boy and a girl walking back to dorms. Time frame… 2 a.m. on Saturday morning. One of these boys makes an inappropriate comment to the girl and thinking they also live in dorms she just says no and keeps walking to her building. The three boys then proceed to follow the couple to their flat. The couple notices this and attempts to get inside and close the door, locking the trouble makers outside…until they come up with the BRILLIANT idea to kick in the bottom window of the door causing glass to shatter all over the floor. By this time the couple is freaking out (and rightfully so). The three boys then proceed to beat up the boy in the flat, while the girl is left screaming to wake others up to stop the violence…on their way out, one said some choice words to the girl and slapped her. Once the idiots who were apparently looking for a fight leave, they THEN decide to take a knife (or some sort of sharp weapon) to the balcony on the first floor and try to attack another student living in the residence halls.
Good story right? My thoughts exactly. What a horrible Friday night to experience. Especially when you are a first year…and not from the London. Nothing like being assaulted to scare you and make you never want to leave your room. Fabulous.
Issue:
The night guard saw nothing. Awesome. So when the students who were assaulted went to report it to reception, the police were called. Their response…they will come by campus at 3p.m. Why the heck does it take so long to get an incident report filed? You could not have come down at the time it happened…no, let us wait 12 hours first. Awesome idea. Why wasn’t this taken a bit more seriously? I mean, student accommodation should be taken seriously because we are paying for the safety of our uni. Don’t let us down. Also, it is a place full of young adults. Maybe keeping them safe since they are in bundle seems like a good idea? Come on Metro Police. Students being assaulted is a serious thing.
